Community Engagement

Great Strides, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Jacksonville FL 2024

Through Medtronic’s employee resource group, ASPIRE, and In honor of Project 6, I recently volunteered for the Great Strides Event. Participants walked to help raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in hopes of one day finding a cure. Our team helped support the event, and we managed to raise $1,500 for the organization.

Leadership Roles

Internal Fundraising Director, Bulls For Kids, 2018 - 2020

Bulls For Kids was a student run organization at the University of South Florida that raised money for Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Students spent the entire year fundraising and came together for Dance Marathon to celebrate our efforts and fundraise one last time before counting the total. As the internal fundraising director I was responsible for hosting fundraising events, such as Fundraising Push Day where we raised $15k in a day. I also helped others fundraise throughout the year and ensured they met their fundraising goal.

About Me

Travel

I love exploring new places and luckily I have been fortunate enough to visit some amazing countries. Most recently I went to Spain and visited the island of Mallorca! It was definitely one of my favorite places that I have traveled to yet! In college, I spent the summer in London, England while studying abroad for a semester and also got to visit some family that lives over there. I am also half Costa Rican and have been many times to visit family. Getting to be an honorary local makes visiting even more special!

Animals

I have always loved animals, no matter what kind! Growing up I was always around dogs and I constantly find myself stopping to pet every one I see! On my most recent trip, I actually befriended the tour guide’s dog (middle picture) and he sat right next to me for the duration of the tour. I also grew up riding horses and I truly believe it teaches you patience, strength, and emotional intelligence. You have to learn to communicate with beings that can’t talk back to you and have a mind of their own. I’ve learned the hard way after being thrown off a time or two but I always got back in the saddle!

The Beach

I feel incredibly fortunate to have grown up on the beautiful West Coast of Florida, where the waters are crystal clear and the sun shines all year round. Most of my life has been spent either on the beach or out on the boat, so it's no surprise that one of my absolute favorite things to do is simply relax on the beach and watch the sunset. It's such a serene experience that brings me a great deal of joy and peace.
